Alphabet, the parent company of the world's leading tech company Google, has revealed the annual earnings of CEO Sundar Pichai for 2024. While on the one hand, there has been a tremendous decline in his total earnings, there has been a record increase in the expenditure on his security system.
According to Alphabet's 2025 Proxy Statement, Sundar Pichai received a total package of $10.72 million (about Rs 89 crore) in the year 2024. This figure is much less than the $226 million (more than Rs 1800 crore) he received in 2022. This decline is mainly due to the absence of the huge triennial stock award that he received in 2022.
Details of Sundar Pichai's 2024 salary
Base salary: $2 million (about 16 crores)
Stock awards and other perks: A major part of the remaining package
Security expenses: $8.27 million (about 69 crores)
Surprising things
While the base salary remained stable at $2 million as before, the rest of the earnings came through stock-based rewards, bonuses, and executive benefits. But what is most surprising is the $8.27 million spent by the company on his security, which is 22% more than in 2023.
Heavy investment in security
According to Alphabet's report, this security arrangement for Pichai included home security, consultation fees, car and driver services, and personal security during all trips. The company says that given Sundar Pichai's role, this expenditure is necessary to reduce business risk and it is not considered a personal benefit.
More travel in 2024 became the reason.
The report also said that Pichai traveled a lot in the year 2024, which increased his security needs. Due to this, the company had to spend more on its security.
