Is online travel booking no longer safe?
This incident with Archana Puran Singh tells that online fraud can happen not only with common people but also with aware and experienced travelers. Regarding this, some travel experts say that even in countries with strict rules like Dubai, cases of fraud through fake websites on third-party platforms come to light. Especially when a website lures you with huge discounts or booking at very cheap rates.
-If you also want to avoid such travel fraud, then you should keep many things in mind. In such a situation, if you are getting very cheap offers, then you should be careful about them. Before booking that offer, you must check its validity.
-To avoid online fraud, you should also check the website. The registered address, contact number, and refund policy of the company are present on the right website. Therefore, you should avoid sites that only talk through email or chat.
-Before making an online booking, you must read the reviews of any site. Before booking on any travel site, you can check the reviews on platforms like Google or TripAdvisor.
-Apart from this, always make payments only on sites starting with https and keep proof of payment by UPI or card.
If you get scammed, do this immediately.
-If you also get scammed in this way, first of all, inform the bank or card company. So that you can immediately report a ban on your transaction or request a refund.
- Apart from this, you can also file a complaint with the local police because tourist fraud is taken seriously in cities like Dubai.
-If you also want to avoid such fraud, then keep all the receipts and screenshots of your booking safe, so that if any fraud happens with you, these documents will strengthen your complaint.
-Contact the embassy in case of fraud, if an identity card or a large amount is involved in the fraud, then you can seek help from the embassy or consulate of your country by seeing its information.
At the same time, it is very important to be alert to avoid online fraud even in a safe place like Dubai. Whether you are a common traveler or a celebrity, anyone can be a victim of loss due to a wrong website or carelessness. So while making travel bookings, never ignore checking the right platform, secure payment, and reviews.
