Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], April 21 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Eatala Rajendar on Monday spoke about the upcoming biennial election to the Telangana Legislative Council from Hyderabad Local Authorities' constituency, urging voters to support the BJP for continued development in the city.
Speaking to ANI, Rajendar said the BJP's performance in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections is a testament to its growing popularity and commitment to the city's progress.
"The party that won the most seats in GHMC was the BJP," Rajendar stated, referring to the BJP's victory in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections. Congress has around 1-2 seats, and the BRS party had some gains but also lost some in Hyderabad."
Rajendar further emphasised the importance of the BJP's role in the city's development, claiming that most of the major infrastructure projects like flyovers, roads, widening, MMTS (Multi-Modal Transport System), and railway stations are funded by the central government.
"If one has to stay in Hyderabad, there should be no demolition like the one happening in other areas. The development in Hyderabad is happening only with central government funds," he stated.
He continued by asserting that for the city's progress to continue, the BJP must win in the elections. "In the coming days, if Hyderabad is to continue its development, it is essential for the BJP to win, and it is necessary to vote for the BJP," Rajendar urged.
Meanwhile, addressing the controversy over land sales at Hyderabad Central University, Rajendar launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Revanth Reddy, accusing him of trying to sell land without providing adequate funds for it.
"What Revanth Reddy is trying to do should be stopped first. If land is being sold in Hyderabad, the money for this should be given. There is a lot of talk, but very little action from the Congress party. How much did they promise? How much are they cheating the people?" he said.
He further criticised senior Congress leaders, including Revanth Reddy, Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, for failing to deliver on their promises made during elections.
"Revanth Reddy knows this, and Rahul Gandhi knows it too. During the elections, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi made promises that were not fulfilled," he said.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced on March 23 that the biennial elections for one seat in the Telangana Legislative Council from the Hyderabad Local Authorities' constituency will be held on April 23.
The polling was necessitated as the term of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC MS Prabhakar will expire on May 1. (ANI)
