New Delhi [India], September 4 (ANI): Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday slammed Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress party leaders for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during the Voter Adhikar Yatra event in Darbhanga.
The five-hour Bihar Bandh protest was organised by the BJP today in reply to these derogatory remarks. Cadres of the BJP are staging protests in various parts of the state, including Gaya and Danapur.
Bihar Deputy CM said to ANI that motherhood was born in Bihar, and it has given the tradition of respecting other mothers as well.
"The people of Bihar including mothers and sisters are in pain. They themselves have called for a Bharat Bandh and have got the support of the BJP and the NDA. How can they abuse the PM's mother? RJD and Congress have abused mothers and sisters, making it a shameful day for democracy," Choudhary said.
He further thanked Bihar's mothers and sisters for understanding PM Modi's pain and gave a befitting reply to Congress and RJD leaders by doing the Bharat Bandh protests.
"Political matters are discussed, political ideologies are opposed, individual comments are not allowed," Choudhary added.
Earlier today, Bihar BJP Party Spokesperson Sushma Sahu slammed Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's late mother during the Voter Adhikar Yatra event in Darbhanga.
Speaking to ANI, Sahu said, "Are Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav's eyes closed regarding derogatory remarks used for PM Modi's late mother?...Rahul is an expert in talking dirty outside the context. Tejashwi has ten women living in his house. How can he talk such dirty?"
She further said that Tejashwi is having fun making reels and has no regrets. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was seen dancing in a viral reel video at Patna Marine Drive which he shared on X. The video showed him dancing with Bihar youth after the end of the 16-day Voter Adhikaar Yatra.
BJP Mahila Morcha President Dharamshila Gupta also slammed both the Opposition leaders and said that abusing one's mother is not the culture of the BJP.
"BJP respects women's empowerment. You can instance from 2007 in Gujarat, when Sonia Gandhi started abusing, that is not the culture of the BJP," Gupta said to ANI.
"What will Rahul Gandhi and Tejaswi Yadav say? They made their members abuse them, and they were enjoying it. If they had even a little knowledge of the mother, they would have scolded that worker immediately, but no, Dharbhanga police arrested him. Rahul Gandhi will be drenched in the tears of our sister for this act," she added.
The BJP Mahila Morcha President further stated that Biharis can tolerate everything except an insult to anyone's mother. "Today, the people of Bihar have rejected Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav. We will not tolerate the insult of Bihar!" she added.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) observed a five-hour Bihar Bandh in protest of the remarks, with workers protesting in Patna. The bandh was a show of solidarity with PM Modi and a strong message against the opposition's alleged disrespect. (ANI)
