Send Push
Air India and IndiGo on Saturday issued travel advisory to passengers travelling to and from Delhi amid heavy rainfall. The Delhi Airport also issued a passenger advisory for passengers to use alternate commute like the Delhi Metro to avoid delays as areas near the airport have been waterlogged. It also advised passengers to check flight status with the respective airlines.

Air India said in a post on X that flight operations may be impacted, asking passengers to check the flight status before heading to the airport. The airline also advised passengers to allow extra time for the journey to the airport.

IndiGo has also asked passengers to plan the commute to the airport in advance or look for alternative routes as waterlogging in several parts of the city has caused traffic snarls.

Delhi rains cause flight delays and cacelations

Heavy rain swept across parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region on Saturday morning, disrupting flights and morning commute. Flight tracking site Flightradar reported about 90 flight delays and four cancellations due to poor weather conditions.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast for the day warned of “thunderstorm with rain”, with temperatures expected to peak at 33°C and drop to 25°C at night. Officials have cautioned that the capital could see another round of showers later in the day.

Shastri Bhawan, R.K. Puram, Moti Bagh, and Kidwai Nagar saw some of the heaviest showers. On Mathura Road and outside Bharat Mandapam’s Gate No. 7, water pooled quickly, slowing vehicles and forcing pedestrians to wade through knee-deep patches.
