Orry is 'my husband': Janhvi Kapoor on how being 'married' helped in 'unwanted' situation

Actor Janhvi Kapoor recently opened up about her personal experiences with unwanted advances, revealing that she often claims to be married to escape such situations. Speaking on IMDb’s Speed Dating series while promoting her film Param Sundari with Sidharth Malhotra, the actor said she has had many awkward encounters, especially abroad.

She mentioned that in Los Angeles, waiters would sometimes slip her their numbers or send items she had not ordered. To avoid discomfort, she once introduced her close friend Orhan Awatramani, popularly known as Orry, as her husband. The actress said, "I was with Orry once and said he's my husband."

Romantic gesture from a partner
Janhvi also reflected on one of the most touching gestures she has experienced in a relationship. She recalled how a former partner traveled from London to Mumbai just to spend a few hours with her because she had a bad dream and was feeling anxious. The effort, she said, stayed with her as one of the most romantic acts of devotion.

While speaking about dating, the actor shared her dealbreaker for a first date. According to her, punctuality matters the most. She stressed that arriving late leaves a poor impression, whereas reaching early shows sincerity. She added that a bit of nervousness makes the interaction feel more genuine. For her, emotional gestures carry greater value than material gifts.
