Shruti Haasan, the renowned actress-singer, is currently gearing up for the release of the much-awaited film Coolie. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film stars superstar Rajinikanth and is all set to arrive in cinemas on August 14. The countdown has already begun, and the film is already scripting history at the box office ever since the advance bookings opened. The actors are currently on a promotional spree, and one moment from the event grabbed our attention.
Shruti Haasan chooses between Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth
Shruti Haasan shared a candid moment during a promotional event for Coolie. In the clip going viral, the diva was asked to choose between her father, the celebrated Kamal Haasan, and Rajinikanth, Shruti warmly said, "My daddy is always my number one. I absolutely adore appa."
But she also expressed her admiration for Rajinikanth, revealing how powerful his presence is. "Talking about Rajini sir, one can feel his aura in the very first encounter, I mean, he is an absolute powerhouse. I am a Thalaivar fan now… see, that’s how I balance it," she further added.
She described the moment she saw his face during a close-up shot on set as the moment she truly understood why he is regarded as a legend.
Coming to the film, Shruti Haasan is playing the role of Preeti, a character she describes as quite different from herself, yet deeply relatable in many ways.
“I don’t think Preeti is like me at all,” Shruti admitted. She credits the experience of working with industry icons Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna, under the direction of Lokesh Kanagaraj, as both professionally rewarding and personally enriching.
More about Coolie
Besides Shruti Haasan, Coolie boasts a star-studded cast, including Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna, Upendra Rao, and Soubin Shahir. The film is going to clash with War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, which has limited Coolie’s showtimes, especially in the North. The spy movie is also hitting the theatres on August 14.
Still, unlike most Tamil films, Coolie opted for an 8-week theatrical window before heading to OTT platforms.
