Tamil actress Trisha Krishnan has been the talk of the internet once again, not for her films this time, but for her personal life. The Leo actress, who has been a constant in South cinema for over two decades, has been trending after reports claimed that she might be tying the knot with a businessman based in Chandigarh. Social media has been buzzing with speculation about her supposed wedding plans, with some reports suggesting that her family had approved the match. However, Trisha recently addressed these rumours, putting them to rest while focusing on her work commitments and personal peace.

Trisha Krishnan on single-child syndrome

The actress has always been open about her views on relationships and independence. In the past, she was briefly engaged to Chennai businessman Varun Manian, but the engagement ended soon after. Later, she spoke about how she values her individuality and enjoys her own company.

In a previous interview with iDream Clips, she admitted to having what she called "single-child syndrome," a term she used to describe her comfort with solitude and need for personal space.

She finds it difficult to share her surroundings with others and often craves privacy. When it comes to relationships, the actress believes in forming genuine connections rather than following conventional dating norms. She feels that planned outings or formal dates don’t interest her much, preferring instead natural, spontaneous conversations as the best way to truly connect with someone.

This candid revelation resurfaced online after the wedding rumours, with fans discussing what single-child syndrome actually means and whether it affects one’s personality and relationships.

Meaning and the characteristics of the syndrome

According to Healthline, the concept of only child syndrome, often referred to as single-child syndrome, dates back to the late 1800s. It was first studied by child psychologists G. Stanley Hall and E. W. Bohannon, who suggested that only children might develop distinct behavioural traits due to growing up without siblings.

Common characteristics associated with only children include high self-esteem, independence, and self-reliance.

They may also be perfectionists who prefer their own company and value their personal space. On the flip side, some may find it harder to share or adjust to living closely with others, as they are used to having things their way. However, psychologists now emphasise that these traits are generalisations - not all only children exhibit them, and environment and upbringing play a far greater role in shaping personality.

On Trisha's personal and professional fronts

Despite the buzz around her personal life, Trisha Krishnan continues to remain focused on her thriving career. The actress, who has been a prominent face in Tamil cinema since her debut in 1999, is one of the few leading ladies to sustain top billing well into her 40s.

In 2025 alone, she appeared in Identity, Vidaamuyarchi, Good Bad Ugly, and Thug Life. Although these films didn’t make a strong mark at the box office. Fans are eagerly waiting for her next with Suriya as they have reunited after 20 years.
