Mumbai: A surgeon doctor from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa reported tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday and has been admitted to the hospital for isolation and treatment. A doctor who resides on the campus was in the hospital and developed very mild symptoms; he is stable. No travel history has been found.
Anirudhha Malegaonkar, a doctor from Kalwa Hospital, said, "The report of Covid-19 for one of our surgeons came on Saturday, and we learned that he had tested positive. He has been admitted to the hospital for isolation and treatment, and a corona test will be carried out for those doctors who came into contact with the surgeon."
Currently, isolation facilities are available at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital and Thane Municipal Corporation, though designated COVID wards have been set up and a total of 19 beds are set up. "We are prepared with infrastructure, and patients with severe symptoms are being tested for COVID," said a senior health official.

Subsequently, he died on Saturday at about 6 AM before being shifted to the isolation room.
