Bihar: In the run-up to the Bihar state elections, the Congress Party has launched a distinctive initiative aimed at attracting women voters. As part of its women empowerment campaign, the party distributed five lakh sanitary pads for free across the state. However, a controversial element of the campaign has surfaced, causing a stir on social media.
It is alleged that Rahul Gandhi’s image is printed not only on the packaging of the sanitary pads but also on the inner layer. A video purportedly supporting this claim has gone viral. FPJ does not vouch for the autheticty of the viral video.
The viral video shows the unboxing of the sanitary pad packet, revealing Rahul Gandhi’s image printed on the inner side of the pad.
Satirists have also mocked the act by creating videos.
Netizens React
The purported video has triggered reactions from users on X. One of the users slammed the Congress and said,"Using sanitary pads for political promotion with Rahul Gandhi’s photo is not empowerment, it’s disgrace. Congress clearly has no respect for dignity, just desperate gimmicks for Bihar elections."
Another user called the act vulgur and urged the National Commission For Women (NCW) to not take the matter lightly. "WTF... This is called cheapness, vulgarity & outraging modesty of a woman.. of Mr. Gandhi approved of this campaign, didn't he carry out QI & QC of these pads, himself? @NCWIndia this act shouldn't be taken lightly... How can even his, woman party worker allow these to be distributed?"
The Congress is yet to react to the controversy. Earlier the JD(U) and BJP had slammed the Congress over a photo of Rahul Gandhi on the package of the sanitary pads.
Bihar News: JD(U) Slams Congress For Politicizing Women’s Issues In 'Sanitary Pad' Drive (VIDEO)Reacting to which, All India Mahila Congress chief Alka Lama said,"There is a picture of Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi on the box, there will be a picture of our MLAs, brothers, fathers who are helping us in distribution. They are helping us with this awareness. We were thinking that the picture should have been of Nitish Kumar and the Prime Minister as well, because the High Court had asked you to install sanitary vending machines but your government failed, did not install vending machines...To divert attention from the issue, to hide their failure, a controversy is being created in the name of Rahul ji."
