Months after raising $4.6 Mn in its Series A round, D2C home appliance brand Nuuk has raised $2 Mn (about INR 17.5 Cr) from its existing investors Vertex Ventures SEA and Good Capital in an extension of the round.
The Gurugram-based startup aims to use the fresh capital to expand its product portfolio. Nuuk founder Gazal Kalra told Inc42 that the startup will also use the funds to double down on product innovation and expand its business footprint.
With the latest funding round, Nuuk has raised over $10 Mn in funding to date. It also counts Rohit Kapoor, Suhail Sameer, Deep Bajaj, Vivek Gambhir among its investors.
Founded in 2023 by Rivigo cofounder Kalra and Shalabh Gupta, Nuuk offers a wide range of smart home appliances across segments, including kitchen essentials, vacuum cleaners, garment care, fans, and more.
Apart from its own website, Nuuk sells its products via ecommerce and quick commerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, Blinkit, among others.
Cofounder Gupta told Inc42 in March that while Nuuk was producing only 20% of its products in India then, it was looking to increase this number to over 50% by the end of FY26. In line with this, the D2C brand aims to use part of the fresh capital to expand its “Made-in-India” supply chain.
Back then, Kalra also highlighted that the designs of the startup’s appliances are made internally and then shared with third-party manufacturers.
Nuuk posted a loss of INR 7 Lakh in FY24 on total sales of INR 31.8 Lakh, according to Tofler. While its FY25 numbers are not out yet, the startup will look to grow its top line with capital in its bank.
Nuuk competes against the likes of Philips, Bajaj, Atomberg, LifeLong Group, among others.
The development comes at a time when investors are betting on home appliance startups. For instance, kitchen assistance robot maker Posha(formerly known as Nymble Labs) raised $8 Mn in its Series A funding round led by Accel in May.
Similarly, brands like Beyond Appliances, KARBAN, upliance.ai and Keus raised funding last year to disrupt the home appliance market. According to a report, India’s smart home market will reach a size of $19.31 Bn by 2030.
