Donald Trump showed his true feelings about Prince William during a conversation with King Charles, as the US President embarks on his momentous second state visit to the UK.

Trump is being hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle in Berkshire. Both Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are set to grace a state banquet at Windsor this evening (September 17).

Upon arriving in Windsor after spending the night at the US ambassador's residence in London, the POTUS was welcomed with a military guard of honour and mounted troops. He was greeted bythe King and Queen alongside William and Princess Kate.

Lip reader Jeremy Freeman has interpreted an exchange between the President and the King that revealed his views towards 43-year-old William.

While gesturing towards the Prince of Wales, Trump was spotted telling the King: "He's like you, somebody who can open up all the global connections and make things happen and I'll say he's a good man and if you want something he's a good guy."

The Republican leader is then reported to have turned to William, whom he last encountered in France the previous year, and complimented him: "You look fantastic."

Trump is known to be a long-standing admirer of the Royal Family, having expressed commendation for William and Kate before. In December, he called the father-of-three a "good-looking guy".

Speaking to the New York Post, he remarked: "He looked really, very handsome last night. Some people look better in person. He looked great. He looked really nice, and I told him that."

Trump and Prince William are reported to have engaged in a 40-minute conversation at the official reopening of the Notre-Dame cathedral. Their talk is believed to have centred on the UK/US relationship and various global issues.

The president concluded the meeting by stating that William is a "good man". His affection for the Royal Family is thought to stem from his Scottish mother, Mary Trump, who was said to keep a scrapbook filled with pictures of Queen Elizabeth and her sister, Princess Margaret.

Upon arriving at Windsor, Mr Trump is scheduled to visit the late Queen Elizabeth II's tomb in St George's Chapel later today before attending a Beating Retreat. The event will feature 200 musicians performing a rendition of Beating Retreat on the East Lawn of Windsor Castle.

The ceremony has its roots in the early days of organised warfare, signifying the end of the day when camp gates were shut and ceremonial flags were lowered. Tonight, the Royal Family will welcome the Trumps at Windsor Castle for a state banquet.

Both Mr Trump and the King are set to give speeches ahead of the national anthems of the USA and UK being played. Prior to this, there will be a flypast by the Red Arrows and UK and US F-35 military jets - marking the first time the two have flown together.
