Jose Mourinho is convinced that Jadon Sancho still has the talent to succeed as he plots a move for the Manchester United misfit. The England man’s future is up in the air after being sent back to Old Trafford this summer.
Chelsea had an option to buy him permanently for £25m following a season on loan at Stamford Bridge but paid a £5m penalty fee to back out of that agreement. A number of clubs have already been linked with him.
Napoli were reportedly interested, with Sancho verbally agreeing a move to Italy. But a switch was parked due to the Serie A champions struggling to afford his huge wage packet.
And now Turkish giants Fenerbahce have emerged as the latest contenders for Sancho’s services, which will see the winger playing under former United boss Mourinho. And the Portuguese coach appears to be a big fan of Sancho having seemingly blamed Erik ten Hag for his inconsistency at Old Trafford.
"As a player, we know his talent," Mourinho said in June last year. "We saw what he can do. What happened at Man United, if I look to my own history, sometimes I fail with players.

"Sometimes I couldn't create the right empathy, I couldn't understand the player DNA and I couldn't help players to grow up in the right direction. In the majority of times, yes, I did it, but on some occasions I couldn't.
"Sometimes we have to run with the experiences and try to understand the nature of the players. They have the talent but, they don't have the mindset you want in a player so sure they will make mistakes but the manager was not able to get the best out of him."
That is a stance that Mourinho doubled down on when asked why he thought Sancho flopped at Old Trafford. He added: “Normally, it’s multifactorial, it [could be] the manager, the player, the family, the agent, the club. They’ll look at it and try to analyse what happened at Man United, and what he found in Dortmund.”

United look likely to take a disastrous loss should they cash in on Sancho this summer. He was signed for £73m from Borussia Dortmund back in 2021.
But he has scored just 12 goals in 83 appearances since then and was sent back to his former club on loan for the second-half of last season, where he managed to refind some of his best form. Sancho scored five goals and notched ten assists last term with Chelsea as they won the Europa Conference League but they decided not to sign him permanently.
