In 2023, the OWGR rejected LIV Golf’s application for eligible tour status, citing that there could find “no way” to approve it. Its chairman, Peter Dawson, said: “It is unfortunate that no way to include LIV Golf in the Ranking could be found which would be fair and equitable to the 24 currently eligible tours and their thousands of playing members.

"Keeping this matter under review, OWGR will continue to monitor developments in men’s professional golf as a whole and at LIV in particular.”
Lowry is feeling confident in his upcoming Masters performance. He said on Tuesday: "I'm in a good place. My game, mentally, physically, my game, everything about it I'm feeling good. I'm excited for the week. I think my biggest thing this week is I need to lower my expectations a little bit and go out and play my game and see where it leaves me at the end of the week.”
He said he has been doing “very well” and has put himself “in contention” but this doesn’t mean he has “any given right to go and do it this week”. Lowry stated: “So I think it's just back to basics and just go after it Thursday morning and see what happens."
