A new 'terrifying' Netflix documentary recently added to the series is leaving fans sleeping with the light on.
The five-part series True Haunting was released just this week and is already proving popular among users. At the time of writing, it is now the third most watched series on the streamer.
This means it sits behind the latest edition of WWE Raw and Monster: The Ed Gein Story. According to the synopsis provided by Netflix, the docuseries comes from "acclaimed master of horror James Wan" who "brings his chilling cinematic vision to real supernatural stories."

Wan is the filmmaker most well known as the co-creator of the Saw and Insidious series of movies. He also directed The Conjuring and Fast & Furious 7. He penned the scripts for M3GAN and its sequel along with The Nun.
Across True Haunting's episodes, two real life cases are examined using interviews of witnesses as well as scenes reconstructing events. The first case follows the story of Chris Di Cesare who suddenly feels an otherworldly presence.

This results in an unexplainable sense of dread that appears to be increasing. Seeking the help of a friend, eventually specialists Ed and Lorraine Warren are enlisted to help the situation. Some may recognise those names as their work is the basis of The Conjuring film franchise.
The show's second case too place between 2004 and 2006. A young family move into a bigger home, only to discover it is hiding a dark past and they find themselves haunted by something who wants them to leave.
There are not many reviews posted online for the show just yet but one critic claims it is a "thrilling experience to watch." They added: "True Haunting, unlike many other horror TV shows and movies does not focus on the quick jump scares. This series adopts a more chilling route."
Fans have already taken to social media platforms to share their thoughts on the series as well. This includes a number of threads on Reddit.
One user posted: : “The dramatisation element very much pushes the horror element (with some pretty good scenes) and it tells a good story. I'm a sceptic, but I love ghost stories so I enjoy it."
While someone else shared on X: "I’ve been waiting for True Haunting to come on Netflix cause I love shows like that but now I’m scared to watch it lmaooooo.”

“Welcoming the spooky season I highly recommend you guys to tune in to true haunting on Netflix. A docuseries about just your average joe and jane who experienced unfathomable happenings that made you wonder ‘ are they real’. It’s been a while since I felt a chill out of the screen.”
One person added: "The second story was terrifying, it gave me goosebumps". Someone else admitted: "Same! I’m still spooked, going to sleep with the light on!"
True Haunting is streaming on Netflix.
