The first Indian captain to score a century on English soil is Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. Former captain Pataudi played an innings of 148 runs against England in Leeds in 1967.

After Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, no Indian captain could score a century in England for 23 years. This drought was ended by Mohammad Azharuddin. Azharuddin scored 2 centuries on the England tour in 1990. He scored 121 at Lord's and 179 at Manchester.

3. Sourav Ganguly
The third name in this list is former captain Sourav Ganguly. After 1990, Sourav Ganguly played an innings of 128 runs on England soil in 2002. He did this feat on the ground of Leeds itself.

4. Virat Kohli
After 16 years, Virat Kohli achieved the feat of scoring 2 centuries as captain in England. He scored 149 in Birmingham and 103 in Nottingham on the England tour in 2018. Virat Kohli said goodbye to Test cricket even before the current tour of England started.

5. Shubman Gill
Gill ended this drought after seven years and scored a brilliant century in his debut captaincy. Gill completed his century by hitting a four off 140 balls in the first Test match. Gill scored his first century against SENA countries (SENA). This was his first century as captain.
