Marta Kostyuk gave an update after raising injury concerns during her Madrid Open battle with . The Ukrainian received a medical time out for a wrist issue after winning the first set and later revealed that she felt something during the warm-up. But .

Kostyuk enjoyed a heartwarming moment at the end of the match as her small dog, Mandra, joined her on the court. The 24th seed carried the pooch around as she signed autographs for fans before giving him the chance to run around on the clay.

The Ukrainian surprised many when she called the physio after taking a 6-4 lead. She got off to a booming start, breaking Raducanu in the opening game of the match.

The former US Open champion managed to get back on serve, but Kostyuk broke again and promptly closed out the first set, then asked for the trainer to come to the court. They had a lengthy discussion before Kostyuk had her wrist massaged during a medical time out.

But the issue didn't seem to affect her during the second-round tie, and the world No. 36 survived a rollercoaster match, breaking six times in total over two hours and 17 minutes.

Kostyuk is now through to face Veronika Kudermetova in the third round, and she believes the wrist injury won't be a problem moving forward.

"Emma was hitting the ball very hard on the warm-up so I think I just over-stretched it on the body and it just got progressively worse," she told Sky Sports straight after the match.

"But I don't think it's anything bad, it was just a very weird pain. I usually never have problems with my wrist or anything. I'll probably fix it for the next match but it was weird."

By the end of the match, the Ukrainian had forgotten all about her wrist woes. She enjoyed a heartwarming moment with her dog, who sprinted on the court once she sealed her three-set victory over Raducanu.

Kostyuk embraced him for a cuddle and paraded him around the court as she signed autographs and took pictures with fans. She later explained that he was named after herself and her coach, Sandra Zaniewska.

The 24th seed added: "This is my dog, his name is Mandra. Mandra is my name with my coach's name Sandra but just a boy version!

"He's travelling with us and he's super cute. I was very happy he recognised me quickly and ran to me."

Kostyuk was also happy to get revenge over Raducanu, three years after suffering a 6-2 6-1 defeat to the Brit in Madrid.

"I lost, I would say, a very easy match to her here three years ago so obviously was not very good memories," she explained.

"So I knew Emma is a great fighter and she achieved a lot and can play amazing tennis. I knew it's going to be a battle, so I was not expecting this match to be easy obviously so very happy for the win."
