The Chase superfans have shared their concerns online after the same quiz show was axed in Spain earlier this year as many took to Reddit to share their fears. The Chase first launched in the UK in 2009 with presenter Bradley Walsh at the helm. It has been a beloved fixture in the mid-evening slot for over 15 years. Loyal viewers have since taken to social media and suggested the show could revamp two key areas. It comes after the Spanish version of The Chase, titled El Cazador, was cancelled. It concluded its run in April 2025, after being on the air since February 2020. The cancellation was reportedly due to declining ratings.
One Reddit user mused: "The show isn't as fresh as it used to be and could do with them trying out new things to freshen up the formula." But one loyal viewer hit back: "I disagree. The format is good as is. Spain tried changing the format last year and now the show is being cancelled. Australia also changed some things this year which I believe made the show worse and more complicated than it needs to be."
Others suggested the show could implement two major changes to keep viewers hooked.
One viewer suggested the buzzer in the final chase is slowing contestants down, saying: "The guests having to press their buzzers and wait for their name, when the Chaser does not. That's like a solid 10-15 seconds bonus."
A fan replied: "I fully agree - I still want to go on and give it a go. That's why winning money isn't the satisfying part, it's more about winning against some of the best at mesmerising facts."
Another claimed they should stop host Bradley asking the rest of the team whether the player should go for a high or low offer.
They wrote: "The 'ask your team mates' part is laughably pointless. For one, it has no influence on what the person is going to choose. Secondly, they all say the exact same thing. 'You could definitely do the higher offer, but stick with the middle and come home.'"
However, fans should not fear as the award-winning quiz show has continued to have record ratings.
The new episodes in the UK, airing from January to March, have averaged 3 million viewers and a 29.7% audience share, and was ITV1's third most-watched game show of 2024 and the top game show not airing in primetime.
In Australia, The Chase has maintained its dominance as the number one game show on Seven Network every week of 2024, continuing a five-year streak.
