's friends who were with him in Tenerife "cannot be located", an inquest into his death has heard. Coroner Dr James Adeley said police have looked for Jay's friends, Lucy Law and Brad Hargreaves, but they have not been found.
The coroner said: "We can't find them. They have denied who they are and we have had police looking for them but we can't find them," reports . Ms Law, who is believed to be in Tenerife now, was reportedly the one who received a call from the 19-year-old last June saying he was lost, had 1% charge on his phone and needed water.

The inquest was told that Bradley Hargreaves, who travelled with Ms Law and Jay to the island last summer, is also understood to be on holiday.
Apprentice bricklayer Jay, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, was last seen attempting to walk back to his accommodation after missing a bus in June 2024, after a night spent at a remote Airbnb with two men he met at a music festival.
His body was discovered nearly a month later in a ravine within the Rural de Teno National Park, with a post-mortem examination concluding he died from traumatic head injuries consistent with a fall from height.
The inquest, opened at Preston Coroners' Court, aims to shed light on the circumstances surrounding his death, which has been the subject of widespread media attention and speculation.
His family hopes the proceedings will provide clarity and closure after enduring months of uncertainty and online harassment.
The hearing was told by Toxicologist Dr Stephanie Martin that Jay had ecstasy in his system at the time of his death, as well as a cocaine metabolite, which is present when cocaine is taken at the same time as the consumption of alcohol.
Dr Martin explained that it is impossible to say exactly when Jay took the drugs but it is 'likely within a day or so of his death'.
The county's senior coroner, Dr James Adeley, has commissioned private security guards for the case - doubtless because of the widespread interest in Jay's disappearance last year.
They have been stationed at the court's main entrance and within the building.
