Wherever you venture across Europe, you're practically guaranteed to stumble upon a McDonald's within spitting distance. It's affordable, reliable, and for those particular about their grub who crave familiar flavours whilst abroad, it's an ideal spot to pop in with mates.
However, when one British holidaymaker in Benidorm placed an order for two meals at the Spanish branch, he was absolutely gobsmacked by the bill.
"Could this be the nicest McDonald's in the whole entire world?" Harry, who shares content on TikTok as @harrytokky, enquired of his audience.
He showcased the panoramic vista from the restaurant, declaring: "You're not gonna get better than this." Rather unusually for McDonald's establishments, this particular outlet boasts stunning sea views.
Yet he then quipped, "Who cares about the view?" explaining that he was heading indoors as he was "desperate for a Happy Meal".
Seated al fresco, he announced: "And just like that, the food has arrived. Now you will not believe how cheap this was. We've got two meals here. Guess how much this costs? €11 (£9.53)".
Harry went on, detailing that the order included two portions of chips, two burgers, two beverages, plus some chicken nuggets thrown in for good measure.
He exclaimed enthusiastically: "I mean, €11? What do you think guys? I think that's an absolute bargain, let's be honest. €11? In the UK, that'd probably be at least £20."
Back in Britain, a large Big Mac meal typically sets you back approximately £7.69, though prices vary by location. Meanwhile, a portion of six chicken nuggets will cost roughly £3.49, again depending on where you shop.
Harry's spot on - it's a steal in Benidorm as the same in England would be £18.87.
While a few punters grumbled about the "slow" service at the Benidorm branch of McDonald's, many insisted the wait was a small price to pay.
One customer raved about enjoying the "best Big Mac" they'd ever tasted at the Benidorm establishment, while another praised it for offering the "best view" one could hope for beneath the iconic Golden Arches.
Yet, some noted a difference in taste. A diner commented: "Their chicken nuggets are definitely different from English ones".
TripAdvisor has been flooded with patrons sharing their takes on the Benidorm McDonald's experience. One reviewer hailed it as a "fantastic" spot for "cheap food on vacation" in Spain.
Meanwhile, another TripAdvisor user recounted: "Visited this McDonald's as we wanted something like home while on holidays, and it was a great experience. I got the McCrispy Burger meal, and we got the bacon and cheese wedges for sharing, and it was all so delicious!
"It came out slightly colder than we would have liked, but we still ate it. The restaurant was clean and the staff were lovely!"
"We used the machines as you entered to order our food, and they provided all languages. McFlurry was great as well. Will definitely be recommending to friends and family".
