Mark Williams admits what must upset Ronnie O'Sullivan - 'Sick of it'

Mark Williams has revealed that he doesn't like being grouped in with John Higgins and in the 'Class of '92' bracket - claiming that 'The Rocket' must be fed up with the comparison as well. The Welshman has experienced plenty of success in snooker, most recently in a tense quarter-final on Wednesday at the World Snooker Championship.

The match-up was a Crucible classic, going all the way to a tense deciding frame, where Williams edged out the winner in a 13-12 final scoreline. has headed to the semi-finals of the tournament, facing either Lucas Brecel or Judd Trump later in the week. O'Sullivan is set to try and beat Si Jiahui in Wednesday evening's session to join his rival in the semis as well.

Following his quarter-final win, Williams has opened up about his comparisons to O'Sullivan and Higgins, claiming that he doesn't actually like the Class of '92 tagline - similar to that of Manchester United's iconic youth side - the trio get hit with in snooker. The name is also similar to the Big Three in tennis, featuring Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, and lumps the snooker trio together as the greatest names in the sport.

But this name isn't something Williams is happy with, as he told that he feels both Higgins and O'Sullivan are more talented - dubbing the latter as the greatest in the sport.

Discussing the Class of '92 tagline - due to all three players being born in 1975 before turning pro in the 1992/93 snooker season - 50-year-old Williams said: "Yeah, I've never really liked it. I've always said that them two they're the two best players in the world ever. Ronnie, by far the best, and John the second-best player ever for me, and I've always said that.

"I don't really like being classed with them because I think they're much higher than me."

Across the three stars, they have won a whopping 100 ranking titles combined, as well as 39 Triple Crown titles and 14 world championships as well. However, O'Sullivan has won the most of all - with seven world championships, 41 ranking titles and 23 Triple Crown triumphs.

O'Sullivan holds the record for most ranking titles, Masters titles, UK Championship titles and is also the joint-record holder for the most world championships alongside Stephen Hendry.

Williams also believes that O'Sullivan - who came into the World Championship off the back of a spell away from the game - must "get sick" of being tied to himself and Higgins. The three-time world champion added: "I think Ronnie's probably the one who should be upset with the class of 92 because he's so far in front of me and John. He probably gets sick of being in the class of 92, because he's in his own class.

"But, you know, people like mentioning the class of 92, and I can't get away from it."
