Cote de Pablo, famed for her role as Ziva on NCIS, has candidly revealed the "awful" yet amusing side of working closely with Tony DiNozzo actor Michael Weatherly.
The much-anticipated spin-off NCIS Tony and Ziva will give fans a glimpse into what the former agents have been up to since their new beginning in Paris, set to premiere on Paramount+ on Thursday, September 4
Amidst anticipation for the series, Pablo and Weatherly have been engaging with past colleagues on their podcast Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch.
During these chats, particularly with ex-cast member Sasha Alexander, the duo opened up about the antics that unfolded off-camera.
Pablo couldn't help but burst into laughter, a common occurrence when Weatherly is around, she admitted: "There are moments that I catch myself [laughing] and we'll be in the middle of talking to somebody."
She continued: "And I think you and I [Weatherly] have worked together for so many years that if you start laughing at something I say, it just immediately lights me up.
"And I start laughing and -", she was saying before Weatherly interjected: "And it all goes sideways."
Pablo went on to clarify: "But by the way, it used to happen on set too in the middle of a take. It was awful and so wonderful but it was awful."
However, not everyone was charmed by the stars' behaviour, as Weatherly revealed: "It used to happen so much. We'd do the same thing.
"When we got on a laughing tank and especially when you're punchy and it's late and then certain other fellow cast members would not be as amused.
"We were like toddlers," Alexander remarked.
Pablo then recalled fondly: "Or directors. Remember we had Tom Wright who was like 'Cut it out!' and that would make it worse."
When NCIS Tony and Ziva does arrive, it will feature the duo fleeing across Europe following an assault on his security firm.
The spin-off will explore not only the enigmatic attack but also Tony and Ziva's volatile relationship, alongside their bond with daughter Tali (Isla Gie).
NCIS season 23 premieres on Tuesday, October 14, on CBS.
