From festive evenings out to end-of-year office dos, Christmas is an opportunity for a little more glamour. With party season fast approaching, now's the time to start planning what to wear.
Monsoon's Frida cutwork midi dress delivers plenty of drama, crafted from sleek red satin, and it's now £90, with 50% off the original £180 price tag. If its statement hue wasn't enough to turn heads, the elegant dress also features intricate floral cutwork on the flared A-line skirt, while a slash neck and sleeveless cut keep things simple on the top half.
The Frida dress measures 130cm long and is available in sizes 8 to 20, with a simple zip fastening on the back. Woven from 100% polyester, it's durable and wrinkle-resistant, and can be machine washed for easy care.
For those sticking with the traditional yuletide palette, the Lipsy red high neck ruched short sleeve jersey midi dress from Next is another standout option. It's available in regular and petite fits in sizes 6 to 18, and costs £52.
Or, for a cheaper alternative that's perfect for any time of year, H&M sells an airy sleeveless cut-out dress in a slim fit in black or light beige. It's just £22.99 and comes in sizes XXS to XL.
The Frida dress from Monsoon has received glowing feedback from several buyers, with one commenting: "I have been looking for a really nice red dress for a while, and I have finally found this one. It's just beautiful with the detailing around the hem and I feel good in it. The colour is a lovely lipstick red and the length is perfect."
Another added: "Beautiful, beautiful dress. Figure flattering and very feminine. Eye-catching and very expensive looking, very classy." A third agreed as part of a longer review: "The material is stunning, the design is breathtaking. I can't wait to wear it."
One buyer left five stars, but did mention the fit: "Lovely, well-made dress, so feminine. Went up a size to accommodate bust, as bust was squashed in usual size. The fitted drop waist and flared skirt didn't make the rest of the dress look big on me. Pays to wear a good fitting bra. Looking forward to wearing."
However, as part of a longer review, another complained about the quality of the item they received: "A beautiful dress, but had to return on day of delivery, as just trying it on, the zip is faulty."
