The BAFTA-winning drama Appropriate Adult has hit Netflix, reigniting public intrigue in the heinous crimes of Fred and Rose West.
This harrowing true tale has been thrust back into the spotlight with the release of Netflix's documentary, Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story, which delves into the heartbreaking murders committed by the married couple, from the standpoint of the victims' families and the Gloucestershire Constabulary's probe.
First aired on ITV in 2011, the drama Appropriate Adult centres on the experiences of Janet Leach, a volunteer who was appointed as Fred West's 'appropriate adult', tasked with ensuring his understanding of the police questioning and legal charges during his interviews.
ITV aptly summarised the narrative: "The life of housewife Janet Leach is transformed when she is asked by police to act as an 'appropriate adult' for a man they have arrested - serial killer Fred West."
Taking on this role irrevocably changed her life as she bore witness to his shocking admissions of guilt, reports .
Emily Watson, taking the lead as Janet, bagged herself a BAFTA for Best Actress thanks to her riveting depiction.
Alongside Emily's acclaimed works in Chernobyl, Apple Tree Yard, and Dune: Prophecy, the stellar cast features Dominic West portraying Fred West, Monica Dolan as Rose West, Robert Glenister in the role of Detective Superintendent John Bennett, and Selin Hizli as Mae West.
Meanwhile, Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story is now available on Netflix. The series features interviews with families affected by the couple's heinous murders and outlines how the police investigation eventually exposed their deeds.

The synopsis reads: "With exclusive access to previously unseen police video and unheard audio recordings, the three-part series will show how the Gloucestershire police were able to unearth the remains of the West's 12 victims to build a case against them that would bring closure for the families of the victims.
"The series features family members of some of the victims - a few of whom are speaking for the first time - giving insight into the pain and torment they went through for decades.
"From discovering that their missing loved ones were brutally murdered, to the trauma they experienced and the strength they displayed during the trial."
