Police officers cordoned off a street and swarmed the area after an alleged assault reportedly happened outside a Sainsbury's store. Emergency personnel were called shortly before 7pm on Sunday to Buchanan Street in Glasgow, with police quickly setting up a cordon. Dozens of officers and at least six emergency vehicles were on scene yesterday evening, as per images captured by the Scottish Sun.
The alleged incident is believed to have taken place outside the Sainsbury's store, with witnesses reporting seeing one woman injured and staff rushing to help her, the outlet reports. They also reported seeing patches of liquid on the ground and police bagging up items nearby.
One witness told The Scottish Sun: "There was a bit of a rammy near the shop. It ended up getting worse, and they ended up near the Buchanan Galleries. One woman then ran into the Sainsbury's."
Paramedics assisted the woman while police were also seen going through nearby bins.
Officers were reportedly spotted putting rolls of paper and other items into plastic bags and into a police car.
The images also capture Sainsbury's staff continuing to work in the background while police work at the scene.
Police reportedly put up privacy screens inside and in front of the shop.
Inside the Sainsbury's, several bottles of water and large puddles were seen near the entrance. Splashes of liquid were also seen on the ground further up Buchanan Street.
Members of the public asking the enter the store were directed by officers to a nearby shop on Sauchiehall Street.
Details are yet to be released over the condition of the woman or if an arrest has been made.
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
