The Chase star Shaun Wallace accused of fix as he suffers 'brain fart' on 'easy' question

viewers were left less than impressed by quiz expert during Friday night's episode of the long-running gameshow. During the programme, fans saw four hopeful contestants go head to head with the Dark Destroyer, who is usually one of the fiercest Chasers to beat.

However, viewers have branded the episode a fix after the team managed to come out triumphant. Taking to X, one user wrote: "Shaun frequently throws a Final Chase, don't you?" Another person added: "Can't believe that. Really seems fixed. Chaser loses to 12 and the question what astrology sign has the letter V in it, has him stumped. Really? Couldn't make it up." And someone else added: "Shaun being Shaun ... time to retire."

Although, some viewers wanted to give Shaun the benefit of the doubt. One user wrote: "Every Chaser and quizzer has their 'Brain Fart Days' .... they're not bulletproof. Shaun's biggest brain fart happened on 'Virgo'."

During the episode, the players - Safia, Gareth, Sarah and Wayne - all got caught during the turns, so the team had to nominate one of them to go head-to-head with Shaun. Safia decided to take the main spot and play for a total of £4,000, with each person being given £1,000 if they win.

With two minutes on the clock, she managed to correctly answer 11 questions and being given a one-step head start, the contestant had set a target of 12 for Shaun to try and beat.

Before it was time for Shaun to have his go, he applauded Safia for her effort as he complimented two of her "superb" answers. During the final chase, the player had six attempts to push Shaun back as he didn't know the answer, which she managed to do five times. However, it was the final question that really threw the Chaser and caused people at home to accuse him of throwing the game.

Bradley asked: "What zodiac sign contains the letter V?" Clearly he couldn't hear people screaming at their TV's at home, what with it being a repeat, and sat there dumbfounded as he tried to remember the astrological signs. Passing on the question, Bradley put it back to Safia who wasted no time in guessing Virgo, which was correct. With Shaun's time up the group were delighted to have won £4,000, meaning they all got to take £1,000 home each.

Bradley commented: "You've beaten a mastermind champion by the way! So well played." Shaun said: "I played five of these, Lazarus, and that's the first time I've lost. That's why I take nothing for granted in this game."

Speechless, Bradley added: "What a show, some brilliant answers, some brilliant head-to-heads."
