Alistair Docherty has hit out on social media at the greens at the Texas Rangers Golf Club in Arlington. The event is part of the Korn Ferry Tour, a development tour for those who are yet to reach the or who are bidding to remain at that level.
With the stakes so high, tempers can flare at the events - and Docherty is the latest player to lash out after a disappointing showing.
The terms of the Veritex Bank Championship caused quite a stir last week, with those who hit eight-under-par for the opening two rounds being sent home. The 36-hole cut is the lowest in Korn Ferry Tour history, and the small margins left some players bitterly disappointed.
Docherty missed the cut by a solitary shot despite hitting rounds of 65 and 69, and he could not contain his disappointment following his exit from the competition.
The 31-year-old took to X to question why the event was even staged at the Arlington club, writing: "Dumbest event on the KFT. Putting contest on s*** greens." Docherty's caddie Mike Green similarly felt that the course was not suitable for such a high-stakes contest, adding: "Sums up how s*** the course is."
Johnny Keffer landed the spoils at the competition, heading into the final day of action with a lead of five-under 66. The Swede then hit the ground running to enjoy a birdie-filled day, finishing 30-under-par and winning the event by a total of three shots.
Teenage sensation Blades Brown impressed once more to finish joint-second with Julian Suri, Tyson Alexander, Zach James, and Joshua Creel. The 17-year-old finished 27-under with rounds of 61-67-66-63 at the par 71 course, becoming the highest-finishing under-18 player in Korn Ferry Tour history - with the record previously being held by Si Woo Kim in 2013.
Brown is able to compete in the Tulum Championship at PGA Riviera Maya thanks to his top-25, but he is set to compete in next week's PGA Tour event The CJ Cup Byron Nelson instead. He will need a total of 52.551 more points this season to reach the threshold of 237.718 for Special Temporary Membership for the remainder of the Korn Ferry Tour season.
