Balidan Divas, observed every year on June 23, commemorates the death anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, who died in 1953 under unclear circumstances while in custody in Kashmir. He was then protesting against the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370, demanding its complete integration with India.
