Indore: A 14-year-old girl died by suicide in Shyam Charan Shukla Nagar under in Sanyogitaganj police station area on Thursday night.
The girl, a Class 8 student, lived with her father and siblings — two elder sisters and a younger brother. Her father, Suresh Khande, who works for a travel agency, was on night duty when the incident occurred. He was informed by his elder daughter. Police were also alerted and upon arrival they began an investigation. The body was sent for postmortem and later handed over to the family.
Family members shared that the girl, Poorvi, struggled emotionally ever since her mother, Sangeeta, left the household following a dispute a month ago. Relatives believe that the emotional trauma of her mother's absence affected her. Just two days before the incident, she saw her mother at a wedding, but was not acknowledged by her, claimed a relative.
Recently, Poorvi had also appeared for a supplementary examination, which, according to her family, might have added to her mental burden. No suicide note was recovered from the scene.
Sanyogitaganj police station in-charge Satish Patel said, "Prima facie it appears that Poorvi was stressed after receiving a supplementary in Maths in Class 8 Further investigations are on."
