Jaipur: Residents and regular commuters along the stretch where Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) is currently dismantling the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) corridor should not expect immediate relief from traffic congestion. JDA began the dismantling process of the corridor Saturday.
It began removing the corridor between Crossing number 9 and Crossing number 12 on Sikar Road. The removal of the BRTS corridor is expected to conclude by May 8.
Officials said that the area will be subjected to a sequence of infrastructure development initiatives. "From underpass to metro extensions, a series of traffic infrastructure related projects are scheduled on this stretch. If everything works according to plan, the first construction work may begin before Diwali this year. One by one, other construction works would commence over the next two years. It goes beyond saying that commuters need to brace for traffic congestions during the construction works," a JDA official said.
An official said that on Sikar Road, the Jaipur Metro Railway Corporation will undertake construction of the Ambabari to Vidhya Nagar extension of Jaipur Metro Line 2, most likely covering the corridor between Chomu Puliya Crossing and Todi Mod on Sikar Road. Similarly, an underpass will be constructed at the Crossing Number 14 (C-Scheme Bypass crossing) for vehicles travelling from west to east and east to west directions (towards Jaipur and Sikar).
This underpass will be constructed by PWD, another engineer reported. On Ajmer Road, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to build an underpass at the 200-Feet Bypass Crossing of the C-Scheme Bypass. This will facilitate traffic between Mansarovar-side and Delhi Road.
