Thrissur: A 40-year-old man was hacked to death by his 69-year-old neighbour at Kuttichira near Vellikulangara following a dispute over a pet dog.
The police gave the name of the deceased as Sisupalan alias Shiju of Cheriyekkara house. The police have arrested the accused, Anthony of Attokkaran house.
The police said the incident happened on Saturday night. There was a pre-existing enmity between the neighbours about the access road to their houses.
Anthony and Shiju had a fight around 5pm on Saturday after the latter's dog allegedly intruded into the former's house and caused some damage. The fight intensified and by about 10.30pm, Antony hacked Shiju with a knife he was carrying. Shiju died on the spot.
Police recorded the arrest of Anthony on Sunday and produced him before the magistrate. Anthony has been remanded in the district prison.
