3 dead, 23 injured in 6 road accidents across H'bag

Chatra: Six accidents killed three people and injured 23 others across Hazaribag on Saturday, the police said.

Two youths, identified as Vishal Keshri and Vishal Kumar, were found dead near Hazaribag lake by morning walkers. Keshri, a native of Lepo road and Kumar, a resident of Giddi in Ramgarh, were working in an event management company.

The duo had met with an accident while returning from Kumar's birthday celebration around 2:30 am. The bodies were sent to the Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.

In another incident, Khushboo Kumari, 28-year-old woman from Barkagaon was killed near Singhani Chowk in Sadar block in the evening after a speeding truck hit the bike, which she was riding along with her brother in-law, from the opposite direction. She was a mother of two minor children.

In another accident, 13 people, including six children, were injured when their vehicle hit a truck parked near the Tatijharia Line Hotel Chowk on the Hazaribag-Bagodar Road. The vehicle was returning from a wedding ceremony when the incident occurred around 2:30 am.

"Three of them were referred to Rims in Ranchi in critical condition," Saroj Singh Chaudhary, the officer in-charge of Tatijharia police station, said.

Meanwhile, two truck drivers sustained serious injuries when their trucks collided in Danua Valley.

In another incident, a couple and their two children were injured when their motorcycle was hit by a truck at Karso on NH-33.

Earlier in the day, a car and two trucks collided with each other but none of the drivers sustained severe injuries, the police said.

Close to 700 people died in road accidents across Hazaribag district between 2022 and 2024. In 2024, 270 deaths were reported, officials said.
