Ranchi: Dhanbad police arrested Mohammad Naushad Alam on Friday while he was allegedly en route to supply weapons on a motorcycle to criminal gangs led by Prince Khan and Gopi Khan. The arrest took place in the Gulzarbag area, where police recovered a country-made pistol and two live cartridges from his possession, the police said on Saturday.
City SP Ajit Kumar, talking to the media on Saturday, said a police team under deputy SP Naushad Alam intercepted the accused during a routine vehicle check. The suspect, who was riding a motorcycle without proper documentation, was found carrying illegal arms during a body search and was subsequently arrested.
This arrest follows a recent raid at the district jail where police seized three mobile phones used by organized criminal groups. Eight members of the Prince's gang were questioned in connection with the case. Raids, targeting gang members were underway.
