Ranchi: The All India Muslim Majlis Musawirat (AIMMM) on Saturday announced that protests over the Waqf (Amendment) Act of 2025 will continue till April 26. An hour-long blackout will also be observed around the country from 9 pm on April 30, it said.
AIMMM's national president Feroz Ahmad said the law violates articles 14 and 25-29 of the Constitution. "Political parties cannot appropriate any community's assets in a democracy. The legislation is attempting to create a divide between Pasmanda (lower class) and non-Pasmanda Muslims while catering to the interests of the capitalists," he said. Khurshid Hasan Roomi, state convenor of AIMMM, said agitations would continue till the Centre withdrew the law.
