As April 23 celebrates World Book Day, as the book worms rejoice with their favourite books, here's what Papia Sengupta exclusively shared about celebrating the day and her love for reading.
Papia Sengupta, who essays the role of Kanchan in Jamai No. 1 said, “Growing up, books were my secret escape, my daily dose of inspiration, and sometimes even my quiet rebellion against the ordinary. Sidney Sheldon’s books, in particular, introduced me to bold female characters and layered stories full of ambition and suspense. Her book Morning, Noon and Night is one of my favourites, and I enjoy reading it even now. Those narratives helped shape the way I view the world and the people in it. For me, reading isn’t just a pastime, it’s a way of understanding life and its complexities. It teaches you to pause, observe, and reflect in a world that’s always rushing. I truly believe books have the power to shape who we become. On this World Book Day, I encourage everyone to make time for reading. Pick up a book, any book. Dive into its world. You’ll be surprised by what you find and perhaps by what it awakens in you.”
Earlier, Papia got candid about her bond with co-star Abhishek Malik, she said, “Working on Jamai No. 1 has been an incredible experience, and it’s always a joy to collaborate with co-stars who bring great energy to the set. One of my favourite team members is Abhishek, he is not only a talented actor but also a wonderful human being. On set, we often spend time together discussing our characters, rehearsing lines, and even sharing meals. Interestingly, while our on-screen equation is full of tension, off-screen, we share a bond of encouragement and mutual respect. I feel incredibly blessed to have a co-star like Abhishek, who is dedicated, supportive, and always eager to learn. His enthusiasm and professionalism make long shooting hours easier, creating a positive and motivating work environment.”
