“Status quo not working”, Peter DeBoer on pulling Jake Oettinger from Game 5

He wrote, "DeBoer: "I didn't blame it all on Jake, but the reality is if you go back to last year's playoffs, he's lost six of seven games to Edmonton. And we give up two goals on two shots in an elimination game. It was partly to spark our team and wake them up. And partly knowing that status quo had not been working, and that's a pretty big sample size."

After the post was made, NHL enthusiasts soon commented on the post. A user wrote, "Numbers don't lie but DeBoer just ran Oettinger over with a giant bus." On the other hand, another user wrote, "He didnt blame it all on Jake. Just 98%". The comments section made it clear that the fans did not appreciate the fact that Coach DeBoer chose to throw his star goalie under the bus. A user wrote, "He's throwing his best goalie under the bus, and showing no confidence in the man. Either Oettinger goes or DeBoer goes, I just can't see them being on the same team next year, not unless DeBoer f**king grovels for forgiveness."

Dallas Star forward Jason Robertson stood up for Oettinger and shared, "It's unacceptable for us to hang him out like that. The whole playoffs, he's been our guy, whole season. It's just unacceptable from us."

This loss marks the third consecutive time that the Dallas Stars made it to the Western Conference finals and suffered a loss.
