“This season has been tough”- Erling Haaland calls on Manchester City to save the season with FA Cup victory over Crystal Palace

Manchester City forward Erling Haaland has confessed that the club's 2024/25 season has been way off track and feels that an FA Cup win against Crystal Palace could offer a badly needed boost. With City out of the Carabao Cup and the UEFA Champions League and behind Liverpool by 18 points in the Premier League , the Wembley match on May 17 is the only silverware hope this season.

Erling Haaland has branded Manchester City's campaign ‘horrific’ and urged his teammates to bring it to an end with respect by lifting the FA Cup this month against Crystal Palace. The Norwegian striker, who has spearheaded the attack under Pep Guardiola , was frank on the dismay within the squad after premature elimination from both domestic and European competition.
“This season has been tough,” Erling Haaland said to BBC Sport . “It is not nice to lose so many games; it is boring and not fun. That's why we need to finish well and get a trophy. It is a good habit to reach Wembley, and always important to win trophies. We have the FA Cup final to play for, and in a horrific season, we still managed to do this; that says it all.”
Manchester City plays Crystal Palace at Wembley Stadium on May 17 in the final of the world's oldest domestic cup competition.
Erling Haaland underlined the value of maintaining City's tradition of winning: “When you have won four league titles in a row, if you don't win five, it's not going to be a successful season. Those are the standards we have set. Crystal Palace are a really difficult club to play against. At Selhurst Park we drew [2-2 in December] and they started really well at the Etihad [in City's 5-2 win last month]. They are an amazing team with quality players.”

While Manchester City's 2024/25 campaign has fallen far short of the mark, the FA Cup final is a golden opportunity to end the season without being empty-handed.
