NEW DELHI: A brief exchange of fire took place between terrorists and security forces in the Khankoo forest area of Kishtwar district on Sunday, officials said.
The encounter broke out when security forces, including police and the Indian Army, launched a cordon and search operation following reports of suspected terrorist movement between Dachhan and Nagseni areas.
Officials said the hiding terrorists opened fire upon spotting the search teams, prompting retaliation from the forces. The exchange of fire lasted for some time, but no casualties have been reported so far.

Reinforcements have been rushed to the area, and search operations are continuing to track down the terrorists, officials added.
