The Congress on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi , calling him a "super premium frequent flier PM ," and his upcoming five-nation visit a “jaunt.”

In a post on X, Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh , said, "When the going gets tough, the self-styled toughs get going."

He highlighted four points that he alleges PM Modi is “running away from”: First, he pointed out that Modi has not visited Manipur since what he described as the “double engine” government there was “derailed.”

“Manipur, which he has not visited ever since the double engine in the state got derailed.”

Second point: He mentioned repeated claims by US President Donald Trump of brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Ramesh has frequently questioned PM Modi and S Jaishankar’s silence on this issue.

However, S Jaishankar on Tuesday debunked Trump’s claims and reiterated that India’s dealings with Pakistan are bilateral.

Ramesh also cited alleged remarks by defence officials suggesting that India suffered setbacks in the first two days of Operation Sindoor due to decisions made by the PM and the “continued failure” to bring the perpetrators of the Pahalgam terror attack to justice, even after 70 days.

“Revelations by defence officials that India suffered reverses in the first two days of Operation Sindoor because of the PM's decisions,” he added. “The continued failure to bring the Pahalgam terrorists to justice even after 70 days.”

The Congress has continued to criticise PM Modi ahead of his foreign tours, frequently questioning why he has still not visited violence-hit Manipur.

PM Modi is set to begin his eight-day foreign visit starting July 2. According to the ministry of external affairs, he will visit five countries — Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia.

In Brazil, he will attend the 17th Brics Summit and also undertake a state visit. His final stop will be Namibia before returning to India.
