In a major step to reward academic excellence and support youth empowerment, Sharjah Police has unveiled a new initiative offering free driving licences to the top 10 high school graduates from government schools across Sharjah. The initiative, aptly named “Excellence License,” aims to celebrate outstanding academic performers and ease their transition into adulthood and higher education.
The program is being rolled out in collaboration with four key partners:
This full-coverage initiative waives all driving-related expenses, including:
Brigadier Khalid Mohammed Al Kay, Director of the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department at Sharjah Police, explained that the Excellence License is a carefully thought-out program designed to empower young achievers.
“The initiative is designed to help outstanding students become more independent and responsible as they prepare for university life and future careers,” Brigadier Al Kay said, noting that the ability to drive gives young people more freedom, confidence, and access to opportunities.
In addition to the Excellence License, Sharjah Police has launched another commendable initiative titled “License for the Children of Givers.” This program provides a 50 percent discount on driving training fees for high school graduates whose parents work within the Sharjah Police force.
This discounted training opportunity is available throughout the summer break, giving eligible students ample time to benefit from the offer.
Brigadier Al Kay stressed the dual purpose behind both initiatives:
“These programs are a great example of how academic success can lead to valuable rewards that open doors to the future,” he said.
He further emphasised that both initiatives reflect strong cooperation between government agencies and educational institutions, and are designed to instill values of safe driving, responsibility, and excellence in Sharjah’s next generation.
By awarding free and discounted driving licences linked to academic success and family service, Sharjah Police is helping students gain vital independence and easing their transition to university and careers, while promoting safe driving and community values.
