The day before US President Donald Trump's state visit, a drone was flown close to Windsor Castle, leading to a man's arrest on Tuesday. Ahead of Trump's visit, which will feature a sumptuous dinner at the castle on Wednesday hosted by King Charles III, Thames Valley Police said the individual was detained on suspicion of violating airspace limits that are a part of heightened security arrangements.
The 37-year-old from the London area was taken into custody at Windsor Great Park. Unless a suspect has been charged, they are not named in England.
Both Windsor and Chequers, the country estate where Prime Minister Keir Starmer will visit Trump on Thursday, will have air restrictions through Thursday.
To provide additional protection during the visit, Thames Valley Police said it was patrolling the River Thames, stationing armed officers on Windsor's streets, and keeping an eye on the city from the air.
