New Delhi, April 28 — As heatwave conditions grip Delhi and parts of North India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh warning for very heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across several states. The severe weather conditions are expected to impact eastern Uttar Pradesh, northeastern states, and hilly regions over the next few days.
The IMD alert includes heavy rainfall forecasts, temperature drops, and strong wind advisories for multiple regions as India transitions toward the monsoon prelude.
Delhi Weather Update: Relief Expected After Scorching HeatDelhi continues to experience extreme heat, with daytime temperatures crossing 40°C and little relief even during early mornings and late evenings. However, the IMD predicts partly cloudy skies on Monday, with a high of 41°C and a low of 26°C.
Some respite is expected on April 29, with chances of thunderstorms and light rain. The weather change could lead to a drop in temperature, with the maximum forecasted at 39°C and the minimum at 25°C.
Uttar Pradesh: Rain and Thunderstorms Across Several DistrictsIn Uttar Pradesh, weather conditions have already started shifting. Light rain and gusty winds cooled parts of the state on Sunday, providing relief from intense heat.

Western UP: Weather is expected to remain clear on April 28.

Eastern UP: Light rain with thunderstorms is likely, along with strong winds at speeds of 40–50 km/h.

Districts under alert: Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Sant Kabir Nagar, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, and Ballia.
The IMD has warned residents to be cautious due to the risk of thunder, lightning, and strong winds.
Mountain States: Rain and Storm Alerts in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh-
Uttarakhand: Strong sunshine during mornings is expected to be replaced by thunderstorms and lightning across most parts on April 30.

Himachal Pradesh: Despite the current intense heat, light rain is forecasted between May 1 and May 3, bringing potential relief to the region.
