Google’s Gboard has quietly enhanced one of its most creative features: Emoji Kitchen. Traditionally known for offering random mashups of two emojis, Emoji Kitchen now includes a new browsing interface that allows users to easily view all available combinations. This update transforms the experience, making it much simpler to find the perfect emoji mashup without endless trial and error.

How Emoji Kitchen Works in Gboard

Emoji Kitchen is a built-in feature within Gboard that suggests unique, hand-drawn emoji combinations when a user selects an emoji. These custom mashups create fun, expressive stickers that can be sent through messaging apps. Previously, finding specific combinations involved experimenting with different emojis, often relying on luck to discover the most creative designs.

The new browsing feature solves this by offering a curated view of available Emoji Kitchen creations based on the emoji you initially select, significantly improving accessibility and ease of use.

How to Browse Emoji Kitchen Combinations

The enhanced Emoji Kitchen browsing experience began rolling out in December 2024, exclusively for Pixel devices. Here’s how to access it:

Open Gboard and tap on the emoji tab.
(Note: This may be hidden under the categories grid button in the top-left corner.)

Select any emoji.

At the top, where Emoji Kitchen suggestions typically appear, tap the floating arrow.

Browse through all available Emoji Kitchen mashups related to your selected emoji.

Tap on a mashup to insert it into your text field and send it as a sticker or image.

While the available options are still dependent on the “parent” emoji selected, this browsing function removes much of the guesswork and enhances the overall Gboard experience. As of now, the feature is limited to Pixel devices, with no announced timeline for a wider release.
